Zechariah 12:3-4 (NIV) On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the Lord. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations."
Some nations have looked upon Israel negatively since they announced their independence on May 14, 1948. For instance, the Muslim nations in the Middle East and Northern Africa were so incensed with Israel becoming a nation they attacked the tiny fledgling country the following day, May 15. By God’s grace the Israeli people were able to successfully push back the Muslim aggressors in this war as well as other incursions since their independence.
The unprovoked, surprise attack by the terrorist group Hamas on October 7, 2023 was not only barbaric in nature, but targeted innocent, unsuspecting civilians who were simply preparing for another day of farming the land in southern Israel. This attack by Palestinian soldiers, which led to the Gaza War, killed more than 1,200 Israelis. To better understand impact on this tiny nation on the morning of October 7, 2023, the number of citizens killed in Israel would be equivalent to 13 September 11, 2001 attacks.
One of the more surprising statistics that has come from the Gaza War is the number of people who have come out in favor of the terrorist’s organization Hamas! And this support is not only from Muslim nations. Citizens in England, France and even the United States support the Hamas invasion. Israel’s support in this world is slowly waning and will eventually lead them unto an island all to themselves. And the one common resolution to bring peace between the Israelis and Palestinians over the past 75 years has been a “two-state solution” which the Israeli government has confirmed will never be accepted. Israel has drawn a proverbial “line in the sand” and is now refusing to give up any more land for peace. Zechariah’s prophecy that “all the nations of the earth (will) gather against her” seems to be coming to fruition.
